Allocations for water supply to Volga-Akhtubinsk basin to make RUB 11.5 billion by 2024
87 hydraulic engineering and discharge facilities to be built in the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions
In 2022, the Federal Water Resources Agency will finance 49 activities in the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions under the ‘Ecology’ national project’s ‘Volga Rehabilitation’ programme. The works on construction of hydraulic engineering facilities and enhancement of eriks’ and lakes’ capacity will contribute to supplying water to the unique system of the Volga-Akhtubinsk basin. In 2019-2024, allocations foreseen by the federal budget total RUB 11.5 billion, says press center of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
From the beginning of 2022, eight new water discharge facilities have been put into operation in the Volgograd region, from 2019 – over 20 hydraulic engineering facilities.
“By the end of 2024, 87 hydraulic engineering and discharge facilities are to be built in the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions. That will let improve environmental situation in the lower Volga region: recover its landscape and increase its recreation potential,” said Natalia Sologub, Deputy Head of the Federal Water Resources Agency.
