EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux officially visited NIBULON
On 22 July 2019, representatives of one more international financial institution – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), NIBULON’s reliable partner for about 10 years, visited the company’s facilities in Mykolaiv, NIBULON says in a press release.
Vice President Alain Pilloux, Associate Director, Deputy Head of Ukraine, ICA Lesya Kuzmenko and Agribusiness Projects Principal Banker Anna Lebedynets visited NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard together with NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy and Chief Financial Officer Olha Babanina. They paid particular attention to the shipyard’s new workshops that were built as part of the next stage of the reconstruction, which was also held with the support of the EBRD.
“NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard constructs complete vessels and performs ship repairs that meet the requirements of the Shipping Register of Ukraine. At the same time, we are reconstructing and modernizing the shipyard. We do all that in order to make it the best shipyard in Ukraine”, said Oleksiy Vadaturskyy during the negotiations.
Oleksiy Vadaturskyy also mentioned that Ukraine’s shipbuilding enterprises employ 3,000 persons, and NIBULON’s shipyard employs more than 700 of them.
The guests also were aboard 140-m NIBULON MAX floating vessel that was launched for outfitting works in May. They were very impressed by the sizes.
“Everybody who visits NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard says that it is impossible to complete the construction of this vessel in such a short time. But I invite them to attend the International Forum TRANS EXPO ODESA-MYKOLAIV 2019 on September 20, within which the vessel will be put into operation. And you’ll see that it is possible”, proudly said NIBULON’s General Director.
At the transshipment terminal, the EBRD delegation was familiarized with the principles and specifics of its work in detail. NIBULON’s General Director also told the guests about a full cycle of services for vehicles entering the territory of the terminal. In particular, the coding system of grain suppliers was of particular interest to the guests. It makes the process of grain receipt fully automated and completely excludes the possibility to influence the process of grain quality assessment.
The guests also saw NIBULON’s cargo fleet at the transshipment terminal’s berth. The crew of Pereiaslavskyitug (121 project) demonstrated the process of lowering the pilot house and mast, which allowed us to solve the problem with raise of bridges. The gusts also visited NIBULON-100 tug (T3500 project), its living spaces, engine room, got acquainted with the vessel control system.
The EBRD and NIBULON are long-standing and reliable partners. This partnership started in 2010, when a Ukrainian company received a loan. During this time, our company has repaid the loans allocated by the EBRD in the amount of USD 450 million. Under financial support of this financial institution, for the first time in the history of our country NIBULON has taken on its own to revive inland waterways transportation and shipbuilding – industries that were considered to be lost forever. By joint efforts and as effectively as possible, we have implemented a series of investment projects aimed at developing Ukraine’s infrastructure, in particular river logistics and shipbuilding revival.
