NIBULON Shipbuilding and Repair Yard starts constructing vessels of new project
NIBULON says its shipbuilders have started constructing vessels of a new project in parallel with outfitting works on NIBULON MAX floating crane, which is the longest vessel in the shipyard’s history, ship repair and maintenance of the company’s cargo fleet.
Thus, the metal processing workshop is preparing and cutting metal in order to produce sections of non-self-propelled vessels of open type (B1500 project) intended for transporting containers, general and bulk cargoes, including sand, gravel, palletized goods, timber, etc. The main particulars of the project are the following: length – 75 m, breadth – 17 m, depth – 3.5 m, carrying capacity – 1,500 tons, cargo area – 835 m2.
To construct a vessel of this project, one needs:
- about 700 tons of sheet metal and metal shapes, including pipes;
- 200 tons of sheet metal and metal shapes in order to produce mechanical and fitter’s parts;
- 4.5 km of cable;
- 30 tons of welding materials;
- more than 12,800 liters of paints and varnishes.
The production program of NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard envisages the construction of four B1500 project vessels, which will have been launched by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the shipbuilders continue installing sections of the upper deck on the 140-m NIBULON MAXvessel, which was launched less than a month ago to complete the formation of the upper works and outfitting. In addition, the main mechanisms have been mounted on the vessel, namely: 4 main diesel generators (SIA RIGAS DIZELIS DG, Latvia), 2 rudder propellers and 1 retractable thruster in the bow (Kongsberg Maritime Finland OУ, Finland). The shipyard’s specialists are producing and installing pipes of the ship’s service systems and systems of the power plant. They are also painting ballast tanks and buoyancy compartments. The assembly and fabrication workshop continues producing sections of the unique vessel’s superstructure.
According to the statement, the construction of the vessel of such class and sizes is an absolutely new and higher level of NIBULON’s shipbuilding facilities. NIBULON MAX, including mechanisms and equipment, is designed and built according to the current rules and under supervision of the Shipping Register of Ukraine for the class “bulk carrier-unloader”. In September, the vessel will be put into operation and will significantly increase the efficiency and volume of the company’s loading and unloading operations.
