Zvezda starts cutting metal for third 114,000 DWT Aframax tanker
Shipbuilding Complex Zvezda has started cutting metal for the third 114,000 dwt tanker in the series of Aframax ships. According to Rosneft, the steel sheets cutting is performed by high precision plasma gas cutting machine.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the customer, Rosnefteflot and State Transport Leasing Company, as well as Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and Zvezda Shipyard.
The lead vessel keel was laid in open-air heavy filling-out ways in September, 2018, as part of the visit to Zvezda shipyard of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. To build the vessels, inspection technologies are used based on noncontact measurements and 3D-modeling, modern technologies that allow controlling operations at all stages, from documentation development to vessel commissioning.
The series numbers 12 units with the delivery of the first ship scheduled for the next year.
Aframax takers of the ‘Green’ series are intended for transportation of crude oil and oil products. The vessels have a length of 250 m, a breadth of 44 m and a deadweight of 114,000 tonnes. The tanker design also foresees a helideck.
Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex located in Bolshoy Kamen, Primorsky Region, is being created on the base of Zvezda Far-Eastern Plant by a consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank. The shipbuilding complex design provides for the construction of a heavy outfitting berth, a dry dock, full-cycle production shops, and shops for the construction of offshore marine facilities.
The Zvezda product range will comprise vessels up to 350,000dwt, elements of offshore platforms, ice-class vessels, special vessels and other marine equipment of various complexity, parameters and purpose, including the equipment that was not manufactured in Russia before through the absence of the required launching and hydraulic structures.
As of today, the Zvezda backlog of orders numbers 37 vessels.
