Nuclear-powered icebreakers of Atomflot performed 87 assistance operations in navigation 2018
Nuclear-powered icebreakers of FSUE Atomflot performed 87 assistance operations in summer-autumn navigation season of 2018. The icebreakers’ total capacity is 640,000 tonnes, press center of Atomflot refers to Leonid Irlits, Adviser to Director General of the company.
“Ice situation in the water area of the Northern Sea Route is in annual average. Between June and November, nuclear-powered icebreakers of Rosatomflot performed 70 operations. The vessels assisted by the icebreakers carried about 520,000 tonnes of cargo. Their total capacity exceeded 1.060 million tonnes”, said Leonid Irlits.
According to him, 38 vessels were assisted on their way to the west, 32 vessels – on their way to the east. 52 of them are Russia-flagged ships.
Summer-autumn navigation season of 2018 was closed on November 27 with the assistance provided by nuclear-powered icebreaker Yamal to M/V Tambei (owned by TK “Severny Proekt” LLC).
