The Port of Gdansk marks its strong international position during Shenzhen fair
Between 12 and 14 October 2017, the Port of Gdansk Authority participated in the China International Logistics and Transportation Fair in Shenzhen - for the second time. The fair is the largest logistics and transport event held in the region every year. Participation in the fair was a chance for the Port to establish relations with partners from all over the world.
The city of Shenzhen, host to the CILF, is a very important point on the economic map of China. It is one of the largest economic and financial centres in Asia. It can also boast very well-developed IT and electronics industries. It is in Shenzhen that the so-called New Silk Road begins, aimed at intensifying trade between Europe and China.
During the visit, PGA took part in a lot of meetings with representatives of the maritime industry from across the world. The event was a great opportunity to establish new business relations and exchange experiences with the world's other port centres, as well as transport and logistics companies implementing their solutions at those ports.
Representatives of the Port of Gdansk also participated in the conference part, during which they presented their solutions for electronic data exchange between entities conducting activity within Port premises and offices such as the Customs Office or the Border Veterinary Inspection Post.
"Events of this type are really important to us, not only because of the chance to establish new trade relationships. They also show how significant the Port of Gdansk is in the international arena. The agreement signed during the fair proves that we are a major partner for global transport hubs such as Shenzhen or Hamburg and Rotterdam," stresses Patryk Felmet, Development Director at the Port of Gdansk Authority.
"An important point of the Port of Gdansk's participation in the fair was the declaration on cooperation signed by 12 ports from various corners of the world: Antwerp, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Incheon, Klang, Sohar, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Colombo, Shenzhen and Gdansk," lists Michal Stupak from the PGA's commercial department. The document provides for further enhancement of cooperation in order to continuously improve and develop an electronic data exchange platform.
