Patryk Felmet becomes Development Director at the Port of Gdansk
On 1 October 2017, Patryk Felmet joined the management of the Port of Gdansk Authority as Development Director. PGA says Felmet will be responsible for the preparation of a comprehensive strategy for the Port of Gdansk's presence in international markets. He will also deal with marketing activities. Hitherto, he was president of P.U.P. Rezerwa, a PGAsubsidiary.
"We are very happy that such talented managers are joining our team. During his time working at the Port's subsidiary company for over a year, Patryk Felmet demonstrated that he is highly competent. He showed that it is possible to turn a company on the brink of bankruptcy, which was the case with Rezerwa, into a profitable enterprise in a very short time. We hope that his work and engagement will allow us to build the position of the Port of Gdansk as a leader in port services not only in Poland, but all over the world, in an even better way," emphasises Lukasz Greinke, President of the PGA.
The results of the company that Felmet used to manage are impressive. When he took up the position of president in July 2016, Rezerwa was operating at a loss. Within a year, the situation had changed completely: only in August 2017, the company generated a gross profit of more than PLN 93,000, and by the end of August, its cumulative profit amounted to over PLN 225,000.
"I am leaving Rezerwa with a sense of a job well done and a conviction that I am leaving it in good hands. Becoming a director at the Port of Gdansk, I am aware that I am assuming a great responsibility for the Company's future. It is a huge challenge, but I am convinced that together with the Board of the PGA, we will create something new," says Patryk Felmet, and adds: "My goal will be to prepare a long-term marketing strategy for international markets so as to build a strong position for PGA across the world. Together with the Port's Board, we decided that it was a priority for the development and marketing departments".
The Port of Gdansk is one of the most rapidly developing ports in the Baltic Sea region. Every year, it becomes better at competing with the largest deepwater ports of Western Europe. Thanks to long-term modernisation plans, in the future, the Port of Gdansk has a great chance of becoming the largest and most important port in the Baltic Sea. It is already among the leaders in terms of transshipments. In the first half of 2017, it recorded the best result in its history, having handled more than 18.5 million tonnes of goods.
