Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg has increased financing of labour safety actions by 23%
Since the beginning of 2017 JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SPSP, the company of UCL Holding) has spent nearly 17.6 mln roubles for labour safety actions, which is by 23% more than during the same period of last year. Such an increase of financing has been mainly conditioned by the twofold rise of the company’s expenditure for the renewal of personal protection equipment (PPE) and almost fourfold rise of expenditure for labour safety training.
A significant part of funds has been spent as a compensation pay for the work which according to the Labour Code of the Russian Federation and provisions of SPSP’s Collective Bargaining Agreement is considered harmful. Thus, additional payments to the employees involved in such works amounted to 6.2 mln rbls, additional vacations – 2.9 mln rbls, compensations for dairy products – 0.34 mln rbls.
Over 2.4 mln rbls have been spent for medical services, including medical checks of workers; over 4.9 mln rbls have gone to renewal of personal protection means and their upkeep.
0.73 mln rbls have been remitted by the company for labour safety training of the employees in compliance with the regulations adopted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and Ministry of Education.
0.12 mln rbls have been spent for in-process monitoring and special assessment of workplaces in accordance with the Federal Law No.426 “On special assessment of work conditions”.
Promotion of work safety culture is one of the main work trends carried out by SPSP within realization of labour safety actions. The company plans to keep strengthening efforts aimed at protection of the employees’ life and health and to involve all the company’s personnel in the processes of safety rules observance.
JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transport group UCL Holding) – the largest operator rendering services on handling of all dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates modern multi-purpose terminals for general and bulk cargoes as well as specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes and containers. In the first half of 2017 the company’s cargo turnover amounted to 3.6 mln tons.
