Fort Ross Dialogue forum held in Russia for the first time
The Fort Ross Dialogue, a bilateral Russo-US conference, took place in Pskov on 29-30 May 2017. For the first time in the forum’s history, its participants met in Russia, SCF Group said in its press release. The summit is traditionally co-sponsored by Transneft, SCF Group and Chevron.
The first day of the conference in Pskov was dedicated to cultural interaction between the two countries, with a special emphasis on museums, their role and potential. The second day was wholly devoted to a business agenda, with a strong focus on Russo-US cooperation in the energy sector. Panel discussions were attended by an array of speakers representing various expert groups and think tanks, academic institutions, NGOs, museums, and corporate charity programmes.
The agenda included speeches by: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov; US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft; Special Presidential Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy; Pskov Region Governor Andrey Turchak, and Tyumen Region Governor Vladimir Yakushev.
On behalf of the summit organisers, the guests of the Fort Ross Dialogue were greeted by: the President of Transneft Nikolay Tokarev; Executive Vice President of SCF Group Nikolay Kolesnikov; Vice President of Chevron Europe, Eurasia and Middle East Ian MacDonald, and President of Chevron Neftegaz Inc., Chevron’s Russian subsidiary, Andrew McGrahan.
The annual Fort Ross Dialogue forum was established in 2012 with the participation of the Russian Foreign Ministry. The conference derives its name from Fort Ross, a former Russian outpost set up in 1812 in California to facilitate trade with North America. Today, Fort Ross is a California State Park and the surviving fort buildings were placed on the list of US National Historic Landmarks. SCF Group has been providing support for Fort Ross since 2012, striving to preserve this unique monument of Russian history in the USA.
