Throughput of Neva-Metal (Saint-Petersburg) up 3% to 3.3 mln t in 2015
In January-December 2015, Neva-Metal CJSC (stevedoring company of Severstal) handled about 3.3 mln t of cargo (+3%, year-on-year), the company’s press center told IAA PortNews.
Container throughput totaled about 96,000 TEUs (+7%).
“The growth was particularly driven by implementation of the investment programme and organizational measures. In 2015, Neva-Metal put into operation two modern cranes manufacture by Konecranes, each is 50 t in capacity. New equipment let facilitate handling of containers and increase the capacity of the company’s storage area at the port of Saint-Petersburg”, the company explained.
CJSC Neva-Metal is part of a transport division of Severtal Russian Steel of Severstal Group. Neva-Metal specializes in handling ferrous metals exported by Cherepovetsk Severstal (60% of the stevedore’s total throughput), secondary metals from Severstal-Vtormet and containerized cargo at the berths located in the 3rd Cargo Area of Big Port St. Petersburg.
