Dalzavod completes repair and maintenance of missile cruiser Varyag (photo)
JSC Dalzavod Ship Repair Center has completed dockside repair and maintenance of missile cruiser Varyag, the flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet, spokesman of Dalzavod Anatoly Serdyuk told IAA PortNews.
According to Gennady Slugin, First Deputy CEO of Dalzavod Ship Repair Center, the entire scope of works on recovery of the warship’s operational availability has been completed in record-breaking time.
JSC Dalzavod Ship Repair Center (Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center, Vladivostok) is the major State Defense Procurement company to repair RF Pacific Fleet ships. It performs repair and maintenance of over 150 units per year.
Russian cruiser Varyag is the third ship of the Slava-class of guided missile cruisers built for the Soviet Navy now serving the Russian Navy. Laid down in 1979 at 61 Kommunara Shipbuilding Plant (Shipyard 445) in Nikolayev as Chervona Ukraina , the vessel was launched in July 1983, and commissioned 16 October 1989. The warship joined the Pacific Fleet in 1990.
