Transport Ministry: Last year traffic flow via the Kerch ferry service soared 5.2 times to 644,000 vehicles
Vehicles traffic steams across the Kerch ferry crossing in 2014 amounted to 644,000 units while passenger traffic totaled 2.8 million people, or 5.2 and 3.5 times more, respectively year-on-year, the Russian Transport Ministry website said.
The capacity of the ferry line in 2014 (one-way trip) reached 13,700 passengers and 2,700 vehicles per day.
In 2014, to arrange smooth passenger traffic to the Crimean Federal District in 2014 a single-ticket multimodal system was developed to enhance passengers transportation to the main resort towns of the Crimea (Kerch, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yalta, Feodosia, Sudak, Yevpatoriya).
Between May and December 2014 nearly 400,000 passengers were moved by miltimodal transport using the "train-bus-ferry-bus" and "train-ferry-train" system.
