Keel-laying, launching of three ships for Russian Navy slated for April 23-25
A keel-laying ceremony for an icebreaking ship and a mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV) for the Russian Navy will be held on April 23, 24. Besides on April 25 a new submarine will be launched, the Ministry of Defense press office said.
Tomorrow, April 23, JSC Admiralty Shipyards based in St. Petersburg, Russia will lay keel of a diesel-electric icebreaker "ILYA MUROMETS" (Project 21180) designed to support the activities of diverse groups of the Northern Fleet in the Arctic zone.
On Friday, April 24 Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard will lay down the Navy's first new generation serial MCMV named "GEORGY KURBATOV." The mine countermeasures vessel was designed by Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau/ The mine sweeper / mine hunter ship features the most advanced technology and naval architecture and marine engineering, the world's largest reinforced fiberglass hull.
General characteristics: displacement - about 900 tonnes, length overall - 60 m, crew - 44. In addition to the latest countermine systems, the ship features high maneuverability and enhanced comfort conditions for the crew.
The project 12700 flagship “Alexander Obukhov" was launched in June 2014 and is currently undergoing sea trials.
On Saturday, April 25, Admiralty Shipyards will host an official launching ceremony for diesel-electric submarine of Project 636 "Krasnodar" designed for submarines fleet of the Black Sea Fleet. Overall, six submarines of the project will commissioned with the Black Sea Fleet.
