Shipyard “Oka” launches forth platform tanker of project RST54
On April 16, 2015, Shipyard “Oka” (Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod) launched the forth ship of project RST54. According to the press center of UCL Holding, shipyard specialists will start mooring trials in the nearest future.
It took 11 months to build the ship.
The new concept features increased carrying capacity thanks to maximum length and breadth of vessels and extremely full lines not applied before.
Combined carriers of project RST54 ensure loading for both directions (oil cargo – one way and dry cargo – the other way). This is to contribute to the operation efficiency. This 5,589-dwt platform tanker can carry 5,250 t of light or dark oil products as well as general and dry bulk cargo including crashed stone, metal, timber, coal, oversize and heavy weight cargo. The vessel can carry up to 148 TEUs, up to 320 automobiles and up to 4,500 t of dry bulk cargo.
RST54 project vessels of Volga-Don Max class meet the dimensions of the Volga-Don Ship Canal and Volga-Baltic Waterway. LOA - 140.85 m, beam - 16.6 m, depth - 6 m. Class of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping - M-ПР2,5 (ice30) А. Crew - 12 persons (14 places + pilot). Sea endurance - 20 days.
The ship design was developed by Marine Engineering Bureau.
The lead vessel of the series (hull No 5401) was laid down on December 16, 2013, the second vessel (hull No 5402) – on January 24, 2014, the third vessel (hull No 5403) – on March 5, 2014, the forth (hull №5404) – on April 10, 2014. The second and the third vessels were launched in autumn 2014. In late April 2015, they will sett off for sea trials.
