Throughput of Taganrog Commercial Seaport up 53% to 379,000 t in QI'15
In January-March 2015, Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 379,000 t (+53%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says in its press release.
The company attributes the increase to an increasing demand for the port’s major cargoes and to favorable weather conditions during winter navigation period as compared with that of 2014.
Transshipment of general cargo increased by 27% to 104,000 t, ferrous metal – by 48% to 87,500 t, oil cargo – by 48% to 71,000 t, loose dry cargo – by 73% to 204,000 t including 146,000 t of coal (+67%). Transshipment of grain surged by 93% to 48,000 t, ore – by 92% to 10,000 t.
The company’s container throughput totaled 1,000TEUs.
In the reported period, Taganrog Commercial Seaport handled 294,000 t of export cargo, 11,000 t of import cargo, 74,000 t of coastal trade cargo (78%, 3% and 19% accordingly).
In QI'15, the company handled 5,419 railcars and 91 vessels.
Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is a key stevedoring company of the Taganrog port. The major shareholder of Taganrog Commercial Seaport OJSC is UCL Port, stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding which controls a number of stevedoring assets in the South and North West of Russia. In 2014, Taganrog Commercial Seaport handled 1.16 mln t of cargo.
