Post-Kogeko sets up business on Maasvlakte
Post-Kogeko Logistics is opening an office and an operational base on the Maasvlakte on 01 September. According to the logistics service provider, the construction of Maasvlakte 2 and the increasing size of the vessels which call at the port of Rotterdam demand logistics steering from the heart of the port, the company said in its press release.
According to the company, the upsurge of synchromodal transport is a sustainable and necessary development. With synchromodal transport, the means of transport is not fixed in advance. Clients book a-modal; Post-Kogeko decides on the most appropriate solution by inland shipping, rail or road on the basis of actual circumstances (for example availability, prices and congestion). Part of this solution always involves some road transport.
The increasing size of the vessels which call in Rotterdam and the increasing number of terminals are also bringing a change in the port. The quay where a container arrives and the place from which the same container finally leaves are sometimes kilometres apart. With its new site, Post-Kogeko can respond to this by offering transport within the port.
