Roadshow China focuses on steel and breakbulk
The Port of Antwerp is taking its roadshow to China once more from 6 to 14 March, specifically Shenzhen, Shanghai and Ningbo. This time the emphasis of the visits will be on the steel and breakbulk sectors. The Port of Antwerp will subsequently also take part in Breakbulk China, the company said in its press release.
The roadshow starts in Shenzhen with a seminar on investment and optimising the supply chain. The Antwerp port community is organising this event in collaboration with the Shenzhen Hi-tech Industry Association which represents leading Chinese technology companies. On the Flemish side experts from Flanders Investment & Trade and Antwerp Port Authority will present the logistical advantages of the Port of Antwerp and the investment opportunities that it offers. Shenzhen is the third-largest container port in the world and already has a partnership agreement with the Port of Antwerp.
The second stop by the Roadshow is in Shanghai with a dinner for Chinese steel companies. More than 1 million tonnes of steel is traded annually between Antwerp and China. Antwerp is the leading steel port in Europe, a position it owes to its excellent connections both with the hinterland and with the foreland, together with its high-tech terminals and storage facilities, its ultra-modern facilities and its experienced, productive dockers. As a supply chain partner the Port of Antwerp is easily able to meet the wishes and requirements of international shippers. In Ningbo, finally, the Port Authority is planning an exclusive 3PL network event at which service providers from the Antwerp port community will be able to exchange experiences with their Chinese counterparts.
Breakbulk China
Following on from the roadshow will be Breakbulk China in Shanghai (11-13 March), the largest and most important event in Asia for heavy lift, project and breakbulk cargo. Traditionally it is the first in the series of major breakbulk conferences each year. With more than 250 regular breakbulk calls per month the Port of Antwerp offers a whole range of overseas connections, both deepsea and shortsea. Its 17 specialist breakbulk terminals assure fast turnaround of cargo, while the high-performance steel service centres offer a range of value-added activities and customised handling. Thanks to the advanced know-how and expertise of the service providers and its state-of-the-art IT applications the Port of Antwerp is able to offer the highest possible level of service, thus saving time and costs for customers.
