RTL Group announces annual handling of 117,849 automobiles at sea terminals of Saint-Petersburg and Ust-Luga
In 2013, RTL Group handled 117,849 automobiles at sea terminals of Sea Fishing Port LLC (Big Port St. Petersburg) and Novaya Gavan Terminal LLC (Port of Ust-Luga), which is a 15-pct decline year-on-year, the company’s press center announced.
In the reported period, RTL carried out import/export/storage operations with Nissan, Infiniti, Mazda, Ford, SsangYong, Renault, Haima, Honda, Subaru, Opel and Chevrolet automobiles.
The decline should be primarily attributed to boosting local production of foreign brand cars in Russia. In 2013, Nissan and Mazda, which accounted for a considerable share in total RTL import flow, commenced assembling cars in the Russian Federation.
Meanwhile, RTL was busy in 2013 exporting Nissan and other cars assembled in Russia via the sea terminals of Saint-Petersburg and Ust-Luga. Besides, the year of 2013 saw RTL signing a number of new contracts for sea transshipment and forwarding of SsangYong, Haima and Subaru automobiles.
Russian Transport Lines Co. LTD (RTL, Moscow) was set up in 2004 as a full service logistics company. It specializes in search for optimal logistics solutions as regards import of transport, specialized equipment, components and auto plant equipment. In 2006, the first Russian terminal for acceptance of vehicles was opened in St. Petersburg by RTL under partnership with Sea Fishing Port. In 2011, RTL opened a sea terminal Novaya Gavan in Ust-Luga port to provide full range of services on ro-ro cargo handling.
