United Shipbuilding Corp. and Transas mull JV
JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation and Transas Group are considering a joint venture, USC’s president told journalists at the International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2011) in St. Petersburg.
Mr. Roman Trotsenko said a JV agreement might be signed during the naval show, adding the new company will distribute specialized marine training simulators and other systems for ships.
United Shipbuilding Corporation, founded in 2007, incorporates three regional shipbuilding centers: JSC Western Shipbuilding Center (St. Petersburg), JSC Northern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Severodvinsk), JSC Far Eastern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Vladivostok), as well as leading marine design offices. United Shipbuilding Corporation also has a 50% stake in Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, a joint venture with STX Finland Cruise Oy.
St. Petersburg-headquartered Transas Group, founded in 1990, is now a leading developer and supplier of software, integrated solutions and hardware technologies for the aviation and marine transportation industry, including both onboard and shore-based applications. The company supplies its products though its offices based in 110 countries and workforce of 1500 people.
