NOL ships higher volumes on lower revenue
NOL's container shipping operation earned lower average revenue per feu in the 7 May to 3 June period despite recording an increase in box shipping volumes, the company announced Monday, Seatrade Asia reports.
Average revenue per feu over a four-week 'Period 5' dipped 8% year-on-year to $2,557 per feu, though it climbed marginally from $2,549 per feu in the previous period of 9 April to 6 May. Box shipping volumes rose 7% year-on-year to 228,000 feu in Period 5 but declined from 231,000 feu posted in the previous period. “The increase in volume was mainly due to higher volumes carried on the intra-Asia and Asia-Europe trade lanes while the decline in average revenue per feu was mainly due to lower rates in the Asia-Europe trade lane,” NOL said.
In 2010, the Singapore-based liner shipped 9% higher volumes at 1,223,100 feu compared to year-ago levels while average revenue fell 1% to $2,581 per feu.
