Cavotec secures order for 24 MoorMasters
Cavotec MSL has won an order to supply 24 MM200C Moormaster automated mooring units to an undisclosed container port in the Mediterranean, Worldcargo News reported.
The project is one of the largest Cavotec has registered to date for its Moormaster mooring technology. Under the multi-million euro contract, Cavotec will manufacture, engineer, install and commission 24 MM200C units, which will be used on an exposed berth "at a Mediterranean sea port. "
This is the second location involving MM200C units at a dedicated container port, following an order from the Port of Salalah in Oman for 12 MM200Cs in 2009.
“This major project highlights the exceptional versatility of MoorMaster," said Ottonel Popesco, Cavotec's CEO. "In the light of our recent successes with this technology in other applications such as bulk handling, I’m very pleased to see a new MoorMaster project with the container industry.”
Patrick Rosenwald, MD of Cavotec MoorMaster, said: “The degree of automation and associated safety and productivity gains that MoorMaster offers represents a genuine step-change in mooring operations.”
