Rosmorport plans new deepwater port in Kaliningrad region
The deepwater port will be built in Primorskaya Bay of Baltiysk in the Kaliningrad region, Romorport’s head told a conference in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, PortNews reported.
According to Acting General Director of Romorport Adrey Lavrishchev, who was speaking at the conference "Prospects of Big Port St. Petersburg", to ensure sufficient capacity of the North-West Russian ports by 2030 it is necessary to implement several projects.
The projects include renovation of the sea port of Vysotsk, rail lines to the ports of Primorsk and Vysotsk, the construction of terminals for liquid bulk, dry bulk and containerized cargoes in the Big Port St. Petersburg and the outer harbors of St. Petersburg, the construction of bulk cargo terminal near the village of Vistino, liquid bulk, dry cargo and container terminals at a port of Ust-Luga, expansion of BSK’s container terminal in Baltiysk, the launch of the second phase of the terminal of JSC "Sodruzhestvo-Soya," Mr. Lavrishchev said.
The large-scale expansion program will be funded through the project "Strategy of development of sea port infrastructure of Russia until 2030," being elaborated by Rosmorport.
