Presidential aid calls for faster privatization
The presidential administration has advised the government to speed up privatization of large companies, presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters today. "The government should sell more assets and faster," RBC News quoted the official as saying.
This recommendation does not refer to the privatization plan for this year, he noted. Dvorkovich reiterated that the government plans to sell stakes in shipping company Sovcomflot, Russian Railways' subsidiaries, Sberbank and generating company TGK-5 this year. Part of the proceeds from the privatization will be allocated to the budget and part invested in the development of the companies.
Mr. Dvorkovich has repeatedly called for accelerating privatization. In early April, he said that the government should divest its assets in most sectors of the economy.
