APS to install OCR systems at Baltimore terminal
APS Technology Group has announced a contract to install further automatic container identification systems at the Seagirt Marine Terminal in Baltimore, operated by Ports America, Worldcargonews reported.
“APS has existing OCR solutions with Ports America, and the company chose to expand its APS solution with the addition a new lane with OCR at the outgate, adding OCR to eight lanes at its entry gates and outfitting both with damage inspection components,” APS said in a statement.
Ports America will use APS’s X-Clerk gate operating system to review damage inspection images remotely. On the quayside, APS will install OCR on 11 quay cranes as well as readers for its MatchMaker STS Tractor ID system to verify tractors underneath the cranes.
