Emirates joins Middle East Express Service
Emirates Shipping Line is joining the Middle East Express Service operated jointly by Cosco Container Lines and Orient Overseas Container Line, the Journal of Commerce reported.
Starting June 19, the Middle East-based carrier will charter slots from Cosco on the fixed-day weekly service, which is being upgraded with bigger vessels.
The MEX currently deploys six vessels of 5,000 to 6,000 20-foot equivalent units capacity, with equal contribution from the two consortium partners.
The existing port rotation is Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shekou, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong, and back to Shanghai.
