Sovcomflot and LUKOIL ink agreement on marine lubricants deliveries
Russian major shipping company Sovcomflot Group (SCF) and oil giant LUKOIL signed today, June 16, 2011, an agreement on the deliveries of lubricating oil for Sovcomflot vessels, the Group's press release said.
The document envisages the delivery of system oil, marine cylinder oil, trunk piston engine oil and about ten other types of oil to 80 SCF vessels. The Agreement was signed for a two years period, with an option for a year.
In 2008 Sovcomflot became the first company to test LUKOIL’s lubricants, using them in the systems of several SCF ships. After the tests, which lasted for more than a year, were successfully completed, the companies agreed to develop cooperation and to expand the volumes of LUKOIL Navigo oil deliveries to the SCF Group’s vessels.
The selection of LUKOIL’s lubricants was the result of a tender, held in accordance with the procedures adopted by Sovcomflot technical managers – SCF Unicom and OAO Novoship. There were six suppliers, participating in the tender, and LUKOIL became one of the winners. LUKOIL has got a network of branches around the world, and can deliver lubricants to all main ports, which SCF ships enter.
