Hong Kong port's container trade grows 1.2%
Container throughput of the port of Hong Kong (China) in January-May 2011 rose 1.2% compared with the same period last year, to 9,46 million TEUs, the HK Port Authority said.
Five-month container volume at the largest terminal Kwai Chung grew by 4.1% to 7,1 million TEUs. Other terminals handled 2,35m TEUs, down 6.6% from a year earlier.
Port of Hong Kong is one of the largest ports in the world. In 2009, Hong Kong port's container volume dropped year-over-year by 14.6% to 20,9 million TEUs. In 2010, the port’s container trade totaled 23,69m TEUs.
