CPV’s cargo throughput is down 9.3% to 2,6 million tons
Freight volume handled by Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok (CPV) in January-May 2011 decreased by 9.3% compared to the first 5 months of 2010 and amounted to 2,570,900 tons of cargo, the company's press service reported.
The five-month volume includes 1,128,300 tons of outbound cargoes, 865,900 tons of inbound goods and 576,800 tons of short sea traffic.
Container traffic volume surged by 34.6% from 2010’s figures to162,050 TEUs, including 61,058 TEUs of exports, 59,422 TEUs of imports and 41,570 TEUs of short sea traffic.
In May, the CPV’s throughput grew 7.4% to 571,800 tons. Of these exports amounted to 269,300 tons, imports – 190,200 tons, coastal traffics – 112,300 tons. Monthly volume of containerized cargo reached 31,537 TEUs (exports – 10,787 TEUs, imports – 12,835 TEUs, short sea traffic – 7,915 TEUs).
Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok OJSC, part of FESCO Transport Group, owns and operates its assets at the port of Vladivostok, one of the largest Russian seaports in the Far East. Port of Vladivostok encompasses 55 ha, over 14 km of waterfront with 17 berths, including terminals for handling grain, containers, imported cars and a passenger terminal. In 2010, CPV’s cargo throughput rose year-over-year by 11% to 6,9 million tons.
