First UASC ULCS Arrives at Maasvlakte
United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) is the fifth shipping line to send a ULCS (ultra large container ship) to Rotterdam. Last Sunday, the ‘Umm Salal’ of 13,100 TEU arrived at ECT Maasvlakte, Portofrotterdam reports. Together with six sister vessel to be commissioned next year, the ‘Umm Salal’ is to be scheduled in a AUSC service between Northern Europe ad the Far East (Port Kelang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian). In the mean time the ship is being deployed in a joint service China Shipping, Evergreen and CMA CGM.
Cosco will be the next shipping line to include ULCS’s between Asia and Europe. The ‘Cosco Glory’ is expected for the First time in Rotterdam on the 8th of July. Meanwhile the 13,100 TEU large ‘Maersk Evora’ is (almost) ready to sail in the AE2-service of Maersk Line, connecting South-Korea, China and Malaysia with Rotterdam.
