MSC rises Trans-Atlantic rates to Canada, Mexico
Mediterranean Shipping Co. will raise general rates on cargo shipped from northern European and Mediterranean ports to Canada and Mexico, effective July 1, Journal of Commerce reports.The increases, announced Thursday, follow a series of GRIs the Geneva-based container ship operator has posted this year, including most recently a May 1 increase on exports from the U.S., Canada and Mexico to Europe.
The July 1 GRI will be $200 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container for cargo shipped from North Europe, the Baltics, Ireland and the Mediterranean to Canada.
The increase will be $150 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-foot container for cargo shipped from Mediterranean ports to Mexico.
