Port Vostochny cargo volume up 12% to 6,7m tons
Freight flows passing through JSC Port Vostochny increased in January-May this year by 12% compared with 2010’s figures, 6,706,200 tons, the company's press service said.
In May, the stevedore increased cargo handling by 1% to 1,392,800 tons.
Coal exports volume handled at Specialized Coal Terminal in January-May rose by 11% compared to 2010’s figures, to 5,560,400 tons and in May it was up 1% from a year earlier, to 1,107,000 tons.
Monthly cargo throughput of Universal Handling Terminal grew 13% to 285,800 tons of different nomenclature. In the first five month of 2011 the terminal handled 1,145,800 tons, a 14-percent gain as compared with 2010.
Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating at the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.), as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. In 2010, the stevedore handled 14,700,3 tons (+1%), while Universal Handling Terminal’s throughput rose by 21% year-over-year to 2,802,600 tons.
