STS Logistics wins to deliver equipment for Apsheronsk woodworking plant
STS Logistics was a winner in an open tender held at the end of May for shipping services and delivery of equipment for the construction of a woodworking plant in Russia’s southern city of Apsheronsk, the logistics company’s press service reported. The total weight of the woodworking equipment (oversized cargo, components and machines) worth RUB 1.8 billion is 1,5 tons. The delivery time - about a year.
In accordance with the contract terms STS Logistics commences shipments of the equipment from Germany in September. The oversized cargo will be transshipped at the Germany port and shipped to St. Petersburg. STS Logistics provides customs clearance of the cargo and from St. Petersburg the equipment will be transported on the river Oka to the city of Kolomna. From the Moscow region the outsized cargo will be delivered to Apsheronsk. To implement the project STS Logistics is now building a river pier in Kolomna. Other equipment will be delivered to Apsheronsk by trucks directly from Germany. Overall, the company will use about 400 tractor-trailers trucks to haul the equipment.
Apsheronsk plant is included in the list of priority investment projects of timber industry complex of Russia. Completion is scheduled for March 2012. The project cost is RUB 7.5 billion. Annually Apsheronsk plant for production of MDF will process 550,000 cbm of the forest, producing 300,000 cbm of finished furniture board and laminated plastics.
