FCT five-month boxes volume grows 6.6% to 484,671 TEUs
Container traffic at First Container Terminal (FCT, St. Petersburg) in January-May 2011 increased by 6.6% compared to the first 5 months of 2010, to 484,671 twenty-foot equivalent units, the stevedoring company statistics said. In the reporting period FCT handled 304 container ships.
The first specialized terminal was commissioned at Leningrad Seaport in December 1973. In October 1998, First Container Terminal CJSC was formed as a specialized stevedoring company for handling containers. Now FCT is owned by National Container Company. The terminal area encompasses 89 ha, length of berths – 780 meters, the depth at the berths - 11,5 m, the container yard storage capacity - 29,5 TEUs, reefer container yard - 2850 sockets. The terminals annual boxes throughput is 1.3 million TEUs.
