Schenker to assume operations of BAX partner in Indonesia
Schenker and BAX Global have agreed to integrate their combined strengths and activities in Indonesia under one name, PT Schenker Petrolog Utama.The new combined company will take over the operations and activities of BAX Global Logistik (BAX Indonesia), starting from January 2007. PT Schenker Petrolog Utama will have a workforce of over 400 based in nine locations across Indonesia that will provide integrated logistics services, international freight forwarding for air- and seafreight exports and imports, warehousing, distribution, value-added services along with project and heavy lift capability, customs clearance, fairs and exhibitions, and household removal services.
"The new integrated organisation in Indonesia will be one of the market leaders in airfreight export, particularly in the garment industry," said Karl-Heinz Matthes, regional director Asia Pacific, Schenker AG, and CEO Asia Pacific of the joint Schenker and BAX organisation. A Schenker statement said that Bax Indonesia has been exclusively providing agency services, including international airfreight, ocean services, and warehousing and distribution, for BAX Global with a staff of 140 stationed in offices in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan and Bandung since 1997. Over the past decade, BAX Indonesia has supported a number of major global, regional, and local accounts in Indonesia.
Schenker, meanwhile, has more than 30 years of forwarding experience in Indonesia. Its workforce of 272 people located in nine locations provides a range of international forwarding and logistics services.
