Maersk Line to raise rail box charges in S California
Maersk Line of Denmark is to put up its Alameda Corridor rail charges for containers transported in and out of port terminals in Southern California.The Alameda Corridor is a 20-mile railroad express line that connects the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to the transcontinental rail network east of downtown Los Angeles. The company confirmed that the new charges will come into effect on November 24. The charge per TEU will be raised from US$17 to $18, while the charge per FEU and high cube container will be increased by $2 to $36. For a 45-foot container, the new charge will be $40, a rise of $2. The company said: "This change follows a user fee increase by the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority."
