Sakhalin-2 project to be stopped in case of irreparable damage to the environment - Yury Trutnev
Russian authorities will stop Sakhalin Energy's Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project if there is evidence that the project caused "irreparable damage" to the environment, Natural Resources Minister Yury Trutnev told reporters Friday according to Prime-Tass. Trutnev explained that multiple environmental violations have been revealed in construction of a 1.6 thou km long pipeline. The works at 140-km long section have been suspended while construction was prohibited at the a 7-km long section.
