Rotterdam and Antwerp combine port knowledge
The ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp plan to set up a joint knowledge centre for port-related developments. This was announced during conferment of the title ‘Professor Emeritus’ on the Belgian professor Willy Winkelman, whose posts include director of the Institute of Transport and Maritime Management Antwerp. In the eighties, Winkelman held a chair at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He also served as advisor to the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Port Authority CEO Hans Smits also took this opportunity to award Winkelman the Boeganker, a high distinction bestowed by the port of Rotterdam.
