Water transportation of Ukraine up 5.4% in January-September
Volume of cargo carried by Ukrainian water transport in January-September 2006 amounted to 16.6 million tons (+5.4% or +851.5 thou tons against year-on-year result), RZD-Partner reports. The dynamics of same period in 2005 was the following: +5.2% or +780.9 thou tons. Cargo turnover of September amounted to 2.43 million tons (+21.1% against year-on-year result). International transportation amounted to 9.007 million tons (+0.1% against year-on-year result) including 1.052 million tons in September (+7.7% against September 2005). Cargo turnover grew by 4.6% against August of the current year. Coastwise transportation amounted in January-September 2006 to 7.612 million tons (+12.6% against year-on-year result), including 1.377 million tons in September (+33.8% against September 2005 and +3.2% against August of the current year).
