Krasnoye Sormovo transfers the Mahmud Afandi tanker to Safinat An-Najaat Shipping Company Limited
Krasnoye Sormovo (MNP Group) has transferred the Mahmud Afandi tanker to Safinat An-Najaat Shipping Company Limited, MNP’s press release reads. Delivery document has been signed today at Krasnoye Sormovo. The tanker is now to go Astrakhan, where the delivery-acceptance certificate is to be signed on October 17. Then the vessel will go the Caspian Sea water area. 13,000 dwt tanker is designed for operation in different territories of moderate-cold climate. Vessel’s characteristics: length - 150 meters, breadth – 17.30 meters, depth – 10.5 meters, loaded speed - 10 knots, crew – 21/23 persons, cruising capacity - 20 days. The vessel is equipped with 12 cargo tanks with a total capacity of 14770 cubic meters and one slop tank. The tanker has ballast compartments in its double hull and double bottom. It can carry two types of oil products simultaneously. Tanker project19619 DWT 13,000 mt is the largest tanker built for the Caspian Sea. It is able to touch at any port of the Caspian Sea, outfitted with oil-loading terminals as well as to take the Black Sea and other seas without tug. Maximum draught of the tanker is 7 m. Double sides and a double bottom of the tanker prevent from the oil spillage. High performance of the tanker is provided by two screws, bow thruster and length – 150 m – minimum for tankers of such deadweight. Thus, the tanker’s maneuverability is very high. The tanker is registered as class КМ Л1 I I А1 of Russian Marine Shipping Register.
The contract of Krasnoye Sormovo with Safinat An-Najaat Shipping Company Limited was signed in July 2005. Five tankers of 19619 project – Geidar Aliev, Babek, Shakh Ismail Khatai, Ker-Ogly, Dede Qorqud – were built for Azerbaijan and Caspian shipping companies (the last one was delivered to Kaspar late in September). The Mahmud Afandi was launched on July 31 2006. After that it has successful sea trials. The vessel’s godmother was Irada Latif, vessel operation controller of Safinat company.
