Vakaru Laivu Gamykla to construct two ferries for Fiskerstrand Verft
Vakaru Laivu Statykla (Klaipeda) will begin the construction of two car and passenger ferries in line with an order made by Norwegian company Fiskerstrand Verft, Baltic Pages reports. The total value of both projects stands at 8.6 million litas (2.5 million euros). The ferries will be 113.5 meters long, 16.8 meters wide, and will be able to hold up to 350 passengers and 120 cars.
The project will start at the beginning of 2007 and is scheduled to be finished at the end of the same year.
Vakaru Laivu Statykla is one of the 22 subsidiaries of Vakaru Laivu Gamykla. A holding of 92.84 percent in Vakaru Laivu Gamykla is controlled by the Estonian concern BLRT Grupp. Approximately 1400 people work for the company group.
