Construction of a transport-logistics terminal in Nizhnij Novgorod costs 1-3 billion rubles
Construction of a transport-logistics terminal in Nizhnij Novgorod region is estimated to be costing 1-3 billion rubles. According to NTA-Privolzhie, this information has been provided by Victor Sekhin, head of Gorkovskaya Railway (Branch of Russian Railways) at the press conference held on October 6. According to him, the project is a very expensive one and its implementation needs investors’ funds. Sekhhin told about his plans to meet Valerij Shantsev, Governor Nizhnij Novgorod region, in order to discuss the ways for project implementation. There are certain activities to be carried out by both GRW and Nizhnij Novgorod region, Sekhin said. According to him, the complex is to become a strategic facility at the terminal of Nizhnij Novgorod region.
As was earlier reported with reference to Vladimir Ivanov, deputy Governor, the Government of Nizhnij Novgorod region considers the possibility to attract co-investors for implementation of the project. Japanese investors expressed their interest in participation. We have almost determined the construction site, - Ivanov said – at the moment being we try to estimate its capacity and possible cargo flow. In spring 2006 the Government of Nizhnij Novgorod region held negotiations with Russian Railways OJSC on development of a customs logistics complex in the region. The complex is designed with consideration of growing volumes of cargo. Major funds necessary for construction of a new complex are to come from RZhD. The construction is planned to commence not earlier than the middle of 2007, as it is necessary to execute project documentation and develop funding model.
