RZD teams up with European partners for better rail services
Russia's railroad monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) said Monday it will team up with German, Polish and Belarusian partners to optimize railway carriage and improve the quality of its services, RIA Novosti reports.
The RZD Board of Directors approved April 23 the establishment of a joint venture with Germany's Railion Deutschland AG, the Polish and Belarusian railways. The joint venture, EurasiaRailLogistics, with a charter capital of 1.67 million rubles (about $65,000), will be registered in Moscow, the RZD press office said.
"JV EurasiaRailLogistics will be established to coordinate the activities of its participants for transportation optimization required to improve the quality of services and increase the volume of freight carriage through the second international transportation corridor [it links Minsk, Berlin, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod]," the press office said.
