Mikhail Fradkov to discuss Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline construction in Greece
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov will discuss the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline construction, oilru.com reports with reference to a government source. The Agreement on the pipeline construction under parity conditions was signed in January 2003 by RF, Greece and Bulgaria. According to the source, 285-km long pipeline is to provide the possibility for diversification of both Russian and foreign oil of Caspian region at European markets omitting Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits. Though the issue of tankers passing the straits has been solved already, increased load results in demurrage of the vessels forcing the companies to look for new routes. The source reminds about the decision of the participating countries about corresponding intergovernmental agreement to be signed before the end of 2006. Considering this fact, the heads of the corresponding Ministries are to meet in the middle of November in order to discuss the above agreement.
