Dubai Ports transfers four container berths to Chinese JV
Dubai Ports World has transferred four container berths it has been constructing in Qingdao, China, into its local joint venture, Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal Co. Ltd. (QQCT), a company official at QQCT told XFN-Asia.
The official did not give further details.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in January approved Dubai Ports' previous plan to solely develop the Qingdao project which includes two 100,000-ton and two 30,000-ton container terminals, with total annual throughput capacity of 2.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
The new terminals are expected to start operations during 2008-2009, with a total investment projected at RMB 3.47 billion.
