National Container Company to invest $1.2 billion into development of its terminals within 8 years
National Container Company plans to invest $1.2 billion into development of its terminals within 8 years, Aleona Ashurkova, NCC’s president,told the reporters yesterday according to RZD-Partner. Ashurkova says NCC has vast plans related to development of existing terminals and construction of technically new terminals. The development of new projects will ensure capacity growth corresponding to increasing cargo flow and linking it with NCC’s operating network.
According to Ashurkova investments into the development of the First Container Terminal (PKT CJSC, Saint Petersburg) will exceed $100 million before 2010. The terminal’s capacity is to be increased to 1 million TEU 2007 and 1.5 million TEU by 2009. Investments into the development of Novorossijsk Container Terminal (NUTEP) will total over $153 million by 2020. By 2008, the terminal’s capacity is to be increased to 150 thou TEU, and to double by 2011. Investments into development of Iljichevsk terminal (Ukraine) will make $522 million by 2020. According to the company’s plans, the terminal’s capacity is to reach 1 million TEU by 2008.
