Novoship ups purchase of bunker by 2.5 times in 2006
In 2006, Novorossijsk Shipping Company (Novoship) purchased 95.787 thou tons of dark bunker (2.5-fold growth compared to 2005), PortNews IAA learnt at international forum “Energy resources and bunkering in the southern region” from Konstantin Talalayev, senior fleet manager of Novoship OJSC. Volume of diesel fuel purchased in 2006 totaled 8.808 thou tons (similar to that of 2005 года). High growth in purchase of heavy fuel oil should be attributed to extension of Novoship fleet and to operation at voyage affreightment rather than at time-charter.
In 2005-2006, purchase of heavy fuel oil in the port of Novorossijsk totaled 17.9 thou tons, diesel fuel – 1.473 thou tons; in Odessa – 2.742 thou tons of dark fuel and 250 tons of light fuel; in Tuapse – 1.239 thou tons of heavy fuel oil; in the port of Caucasus – 8.019 thou tons of heavy fuel oil and 170 tons of diesel fuel.
Bunkering with low-sulfur fuel oil was carried out mostly in the port of Rotterdam, Cape of Skagen and the port of Primorsk.
