ODFL launches door-to-door China-US services
Old Dominion Freight Line will offer international transportation services between China and the US, supported by the company’s Hong Kong-based partner, Cargo Services Far East.
The company plans to rollout the service across its network from May, beginning with selective markets on the West Coast and working East.
The service will be a seamless integrated service with ODFL’s US system including LTL and TL services, container drayage and expedited services.
Greg Plemmons, vice president of OD•Global Operations at Old Dominion Freight Line, said that, in many cases, customers with international business moving between China and the US will be able to bypass the destination warehouse and expedite sold goods to customers and to point of sale locations.
Cargo Services Far East, currently the largest privately-owned integrated logistics provider in China, operates 28 offices in China and has a planned expansion of thirteen additional offices this year.
ODFL’s China service will provide door-to-door capability with scheduled sailings from all major ports in China to all major ports in the US. End-to-end visibility will be provided, from the port in China right through to final delivery in the US.
