NPCC bags offshore oil rig deal from Maersk's Qatar unit
The National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) has won an engineering, procurement, installation and construction (EPIC) offshore contract from Maersk Oil Qatar AS.
The contract involves packages 17 and 18 of the block 5 development plan in the Al Shaheen field.
The overall completion of the contract is set for December 2009.
NPCC gave no details about the value of the contract, but it said that the present contract is considered the biggest in NPCC's history.
Block 5 is operated by Maersk Oil Qatar AS under a production sharing agreement (PSA) with Qatar Petroleum.
Last year NPCC won two more contracts from Maersk Oil Qatar under the Block 5 development plan which is currently under execution.
After these and other facilities are commissioned, production from the Al Shaheen field is expected to reach a level of 525,000 barrels per day of crude.
