New Brazil service CMA CGM starts at Khorfakkan
The arrival of the 1700 TEU 'CMA CGM Rio Grande' at midnight on March 12th inaugurated yet another new service at Gulftainer's Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT).
The CMA-CGM extend their comprehensive range of trade routes in the area with the introduction of the 'Vasco' service covering Brazilian ports to and from the Middle East and South Asia - particularly catering to strong demand in the Middle East for South American refrigerated products.
This first call of the new direct service from South America at Khorfakkan was highlighted by a presentation to the Master (Captain Florian Moisa). True to form, the terminal worked the ship in exemplary fashion, ensuring that productivity was maintained to speed containers on their way throughout the Middle East Gulf region - and schedule integrity preserved to ensure no delays for customers.
Gulftainer director and general manager Peter Richards commented: "We are really delighted with this new and direct service from South America using Khorfakkan as a distribution hub for the area. Clearly, judging by the volumes on the first sailing and the appetite in this region for South American products, the introduction of this new link will be a big success."
