FESCO Transport Group container fleet development progress
Keel laying ceremony of the fifth container vessel, built for FESCO in China, took place on March, 10th on shipyard in Nanjing (China).
The vessel is to be named FESCO ANADYR. Its construction is a part of The Company fleet development program, further including nine ships construction of about 20 000 TEU total capacity by the year 2009. FESCO fleet is filled up with four new container ships and one ro-ro vessel in 2006.
Vessel building process was started on November, 30th, 2006 with steel cutting. Keel laying is a hull construction starting point. According to the Jingling shipyard plans, new vessel will be delivered to FESCO Transport Group on November, 30th, 2007 - a month earlier than it is stipulated in the contract.
The newborn vessel of 13760 tons deadweight can load aboard 1080 TEU. 220 reefer containers can be loaded in order to carry refrigerated cargo. The high-class automated control system allows carrying out unattending machinery maintenance. The ship has two electro-hydraulic cranes, carrying 40 tons each. Powerful main and pilot engines are fueled with heavy oil. Service speed laden is expected to be about 19 knots.
4 vessels of the current type are operated by FESCO - FESCO ASKOLD, FESCO ALEUT, FESCO AYON and FESCO ALTAY. The vessels were delivered in 2006 and 2007.
